The nonprofit I founded, Christians Associated for Democracy, arranged for the translation into English of Hungary’s recent emergency act on COVID. The law allows the Hungarian government to rule by decree until the end of the COVID crisis, whenever that may be. Critics of Viktor Orbán’s regime worry that this law is an Enabling Act that renders parliament irrelevant. Orbán no longer needs to pass legislation through parliament. His government can simply issue edicts. Those who want to read the English text of the law can download it here.
